• Ju Gómez Avilés

Previously known as Julia (she/her), I currently go by the name Ju (pronounced as 'who') and use they/he pronouns, as I identify as trans-masc/non-binary person. I was born in Murcia (Spain) in 1994. Started dancing at the age of 9 at the dance conservatory of my hometown, where I specialized in ballet, graduating in 2013. That same year I moved to Rotterdam (The Netherlands) to study a Bachelor of Arts in Dance at Codarts University for the Arts, where I developed as a modern dancer and choreographer. After graduating in July 2017 I moved to Guangzhou (China) to explore new horizons. In 2019 I moved back to Rotterdam as a freelance artist.

"I don't just dance. I don't just choreograph. I have the urge to go beyond the edges of the dance-field. That is why I keep on collaborating with artists from different fields such as painting, music, photography, sculpture, video, etc."

Currently studying a Masters in Dance Movement Therapy at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona.
